What is recorded here

Limestone block pier, built c.1870, with later concrete surface and parapet walls. Timber section to east supported on piles connected by copper and iron nails. Timber bollards and recent metal railings to surface.
This pier has served the community of Monkstown for many year, facilitating transport across to Great Island and to other locations throughout Cork harbour and beyond. Its simple construction and lack of embellishments tell of its utilitarian purpose. The pier has undergone various repairs and alterations throughout its history but retains its original form and character.

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
