Phyllis Brown and Kate Clarke blue plaque

This blue commemorative plaque records: Phyllis Brown (1877-1968) First female Mayor of Chester. Kate Clarke (1884-1974) First female Sheriff of Chester. Kate Clarke became the first female Sheriff of Chester in 1937. In 1938 Phyllis Brown was the first woman to be elected Mayor of Chester; Kate Clarke became Mayor in 1939.
