Old Slains Castle watches the Riddle Skerries, where a twentieth-century steam trawner called Philorth still belongs to the water. The name suggests a vessel that caught fish beside rocks which refuse to be remembered correctly. The North Sea keeps its own ledger, writing in salt and foam rather than ink.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Philorth: Riddle Skerries, Old Slains Castle, North Sea as Steam Trawler (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
