What is recorded here

On level rock pavement and rough grazing, c. 425m ESE of the ecclesiastical remains associated with St Colman Mac Duagh (CL006-023----). A small drystone cairn (2.2 x 2.2m; H 0.7m) with small stones on top may be a penitential cairn. A second, slightly larger cairn (CL006-025003-) stands 1.3m to SW and is joined to the former by a low drystone wall of single flags set on edge and vertically abutting one another. A penitential station associated with St Colman Mac Duagh, linked to early Christian pilgrimage practices in the region. Such sites were often used by penitents undertaking spiritual exercises as part of monastic or ecclesiastical rituals.
