Peden's Tree

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Peden's Tree as Covenanters Meeting Place (17th Century), Preaching Site (17th Century), Tree (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Peden's Tree is associated with the 17th-century Scottish Covenanter movement, named after the itinerant preacher Alexander Peden, who was known for holding clandestine religious services in remote locations. The site reflects a tradition of non-conformist worship during a period of religious persecution in Scotland.
