Paul-Marie Verlaine 1844-1896 the French symbolist poet, after two 'dolorous' years in Belgium and France and a year teaching happily in Lincolnshire, taught French and Latin here 1876-1877 and worshipped at the Sacred Heart in Bournemouth Recorded plaque organisation: Borough of Bournemouth.
