This bronze commemorative plaque records: Patrick Sellar. In this place the infamous Patrick Sellar was acquitted by a jury of his peers in April 1816 but he stands guilty in the memory of the Highland people. Sheriff Substitute Robert McKid who charged him with culpable homicide fire raising and cruelty in the 1814 Strathnaver Clearances was disgraced by the establishment. Se firinn is ceartas a sheasas.
