What is recorded here

This blue commemorative plaque records: Site of the Parish Burial Ground in use from 1805 to 1858. Prior to this a lay cemetery to the north of the Cathedral had been used. After 1858 Broadway Cemetery was established. Recorded plaque organisation: Peterborough Civic Society.
The Parish Burial Ground served as Peterborough's primary burial site for over five decades, from 1805 to 1858, marking the interments of thousands and reflecting the town's demographic and health trends during that period. Its establishment followed a previous lay cemetery near the Cathedral and was succeeded by Broadway Cemetery in 1858 as urban expansion dictated new burial spaces.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
