This black commemorative plaque records: This plaque has been erected in memory of Ove Joenson who was drowned at the Faroes in November 1987. Ove rowed his boat "Diana Victoria" from Torshaven to Copenhagen in 1986. On two previous attempts he was towed in by Aith life boat The John and Frances Macfarlane when he made many friends in Shetland.

Ove Joensen was a notable Faroese rower who completed a solo journey from Torshaven to Copenhagen in 1986. He is remembered for his perseverance and the friendships he made during his attempts, including those with Shetlanders.
