This commemorative plaque records: Odeon Cinema. Designed in the Art Deco style by Arthur Price. One of a chain of cinemas created by Oscar Deutsch in the Thirties. A rare surviving example in Wales of the Odeon style. Listed Grade 2 in 1999.
Oscar Deutsch and Arthur Price were instrumental in shaping British cinema architecture; Deutsch founded the Odeon chain, while Price designed many of its iconic Art Deco cinemas, including the Newport Odeon, a rare surviving example in Wales.
