Why this matters

Ord Point is a coastal headland in the Highland area of Scotland, composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in the British Isles, dating back over 2.7 billion years. These metamorphic rocks formed deep within the Earth's crust through high-pressure and high-temperature processes and are notable for their resilience to erosion, contributing to the rugged coastal landscape.
