Monument, erected 1898, commemorating the centenary of 1798 Rebellion and the death of Father Michael Murphy with an animated life-size statue by G. Smyth of Dublin depicting him in the act of leading the rebellion. The statue is set on a square grey limestone pedestal with portraits of Irish patriots including Wolfe Tone, Esmond Kyan and Anthony Perry. The arrangement is protected by wrought iron railings.
