Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Olenek: Gloup Voe, Atlantic as Factory Trawler (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Olenek* was a Soviet factory trawler that was lost in 1968 near Gloup Voe, Shetland, following a fire that broke out while the vessel was anchored. All 32 crew members perished, making it one of the deadliest maritime disasters in Shetland's history. The wreck is of significance due to the international attention it received and the subsequent improvements in maritime safety regulations.
