What is recorded here

Oldcastles is a prehistoric pit alignment in the Scottish Borders, marked by small holes rather than grand stone walls. The pits may have guided livestock, separated fields or repeated an older ritual, but human hands cleared the soil and shaped the land long before written records.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Oldcastles as Pit Alignment (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
