What is recorded here

Oldbury Castle is an Iron Age hillfort on Cherhill Hill in Wiltshire, England, where double banks and ditches still mark the edge of a place people shaped before written memory. Inside the northern enclosure, curving gullies suggest round timber buildings, pits and perhaps an east-west road, while flint diggers and schoolchildren have since pulled fragments of occupation back into daylight. The fort feels less like a dead ruin than a lived landscape: grazing, erosion, ragwort and human curiosity keep rewriting what remains visible.
Oldbury Castle is shown as a archaeological place on the public map of Wiltshire. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
