This green commemorative plaque records: On this site in 1818 the Old Manchester Golf Club played their first game. On May 7th 2018 they returned to play a ceremonial game to celebrate their bi-centenary. Plaque unveiled by the Mayor of Salford Peter Connor. Recorded plaque organisation: Salford City Council.
Old Manchester Golf Club, founded in 1818, is significant for being one of the earliest golf clubs outside Scotland, playing a role in popularizing the sport in England.
