What is recorded here

Toornanoulagh holds a broken ogham stone on the south bank of a ringfort, moved there by a landowner who bought it near Bawnaglanna. Its faded cuts may still whisper a name, perhaps Qetias son of Trenilu, while the smaller surviving fragment suggests violence or neglect erased the rest. Lynch wrote about it in 1908, Macalister preserved that account in 1945, and the stone continued to belong to the place because people kept returning it to earth.

This is the present location of the ogham stone (see KE049-101002-) which, in 1986, was recorded as lying on the S bank of a ringfort (KE048-070----) where it had been placed by the landowner who had purchased it some two years previously: he noted that it originally came from in or near the circular enclosure (KE049-101----) in the townland of Bawnaglanna (Castleisland survey records, SMR file). An account of this stone was published by Lynch (1908) and included by Macalister in his corpus (1945, no. 248). The stone measures 0.67m x 0.33m x 0.31m but according to Lynch (ibid., 279) it was considerably larger and was broken at the base.
