Ten ogham stones circle the summit of a low hillock between Dingle Harbour and Trabeg, preserving names carved before written history collapsed into forgetfulness. One flattened boulder bears a plain Greek cross and the inscription MAQQI-IARI KOI MAQQI MUCCOI DOVVINIAS, its vowel notches worn by rain and time. The chamber feels less like a museum display and more like a threshold where the dead still speak in fragments, waiting for someone patient enough to listen.
One of ten ogham stones collected from various locations in the vicinity of Ballintagart and now arranged in a circle within the enclosure. Ballintaggart church (KE053-033001-) (site of) and old burial ground (KE053-033002-) /An Cheallúnach or An Lisín: This circular enclosure crowns the summit of a low, but prominent, hillock between Dingle Harbour and Trabeg. The flattened upper surface of this boulder (KE053-033006-), 1.07m long, bears a plain Greek cross and the ogham inscription reads: MAQQI-IARI K(O)I MAQQI MUCCOI DOVVINIAS. Only 5 of the vowel notches of the 3rd word are clear but Macalister (1945, 152, no. 156) states that KOI is certainly the correct reading. (Cuppage 1986, no. 820, no. 5)
