This black commemorative plaque records: This plaque is to commemorate the legendary Jackie 'O' nightclub/discotheque which opened in 1980, phase 1 and 1984, phase 2 and remained open until 2010 when the doors closed for the last time. Owned by Kingsway Entertainments and overseen by Bert Caira with a number of managers throughout the years. The music was diverse, funk, new romantic, soul, pop, motown, rock, indie and alternative. not forgetting the famous Wednesday party "Grab a Granny". Revellers travelled by coaches from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Dundee, Perth and surrounding areas. Guest artists incl Odyssey, Shalamar, Sinitta, Edwin Starr, Phyllis Nelson, Precious Wilson, Miquel Brown, and many more. radio 1. vip DJs Kid Jensen, DLT, Simon Bates and Garry Davies. The 80s were arguably the best and at its peak the club was open six nights a week. its patrons came from far and wide to take part in the Jackie 'O' experience and to be entertained by her resident DJs Eric Forsyth, Steve Steele, Mark T, Willie Charles, Alan Law, Sgt Pepper and Light Jockey Debi. Kirkcaldy's first lady will always be fondly remembered. The Jackie 'O' remains in thousands of memories and will not be forgotten.
Bert Caira oversaw the legendary Jackie 'O' nightclub, which was a diverse music venue attracting artists like Odyssey, Shalamar, and Edwin Starr, becoming a cultural landmark in Kirkcaldy from 1980 to 2010.
