North West Porth

Bay

What is recorded here

North West Porth is shown as a bay on the public map of Isles of Scilly. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
North West Porth consists of sedimentary rock formations, primarily mudstones and sandstones, dating back to the Carboniferous period, around 300 to 360 million years ago. These rocks were formed from the accumulation of silt and organic material in ancient coastal and shallow marine environments, and the site is notable for its well-preserved examples of Carboniferous geology on the Isles of Scilly.
