Paible Parish Church on North Uist is traditionally associated with Saint Ronan, a 6th-century Irish missionary linked to the spread of Christianity in the Western Isles. Local tradition holds that Saint Ronan founded a monastery on the site, and holy wells or sacred springs in the area may have been used for baptism or healing rituals connected to his cult.
