Newton Castle is a mid-16th-century tower house near Blairgowrie where George Drummond, six-times Lord Provost of Edinburgh, was born in 1688. It passed through the Graham family before Colonel Alan Macpherson and Catharine Richardson Hill acquired it, keeping it inside Clan Macpherson until Sir William Macpherson died in 2021 and Jamie succeeded him. A hidden vault and a later northwest wing give the old stones a restless, layered life, as though the castle is still arranging its own history.
