Dysart’s Newcastle is a nineteenth-century craft on the Firth of Forth, small enough that its exact identity still slips through the fingers. The sea may have taken its decks, its ropes and the men who worked them, leaving only a name behind. Whatever it built or carried, the water keeps the answer while the town forgets.
