Newcastle: Cove, North Sea

Schooner (19th Century)

What is recorded here

Newcastle: Cove, North Sea was a nineteenth-century schooner lost off Aberdeen City. The exact point is not known, only a one-kilometre circle on the official map. The cove may have taken her in fog, or she may have struck a submerged ledge and slipped below before anyone reached her. Her keel still lies somewhere in that uncertain water, waiting for a diver brave enough to guess right.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Newcastle: Cove, North Sea as Schooner (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
