Newcastle Central Station opened on 29th August 1850 under Queen Victoria, marking the start of 150 years of departure, return and transformation for the city. The York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway built more than a platform; it built a threshold where lives accelerated, separated and recombined. The anniversary does not merely count years, it invites remembrance of every journey that began or ended there.
