This blue commemorative plaque records: New Hall, a women's college of Cambridge University, was founded here in Silver Street in 1954, with two tutors and sixteen students. In 1964 the College moved to its permanent home in Huntingdon Road. Recorded plaque organisation: Cambridge City Council.
New Hall was established as the first non-denominational women's college at Cambridge University in 1954, significantly advancing educational opportunities for women; it relocated to a permanent site in 1964 and merged with Murray Edwards College in 2015.
