MV Probe

Wreck

Why this matters

MV Probe was a former MMS II class motor minesweeper, originally commissioned as HMS MMS 1086 and later known as MS Franklin Roosevelt. It was lost in 1948 after running aground near Flamborough Head, Yorkshire, with no lives lost but carrying military cargo; its wreck remains a notable example of post-war naval repurposing and disposal.
