Pinkie House stands on Musselburgh High Street as a sixteenth-century tower house later reused as a twentieth-century school. Children may have climbed its stairs or sat beneath beams old enough to remember kings, turning a fortress into a classroom. The building still belongs to the town, but its rooms no longer answer to every knock.
