Murthly Castle, Birnam Burn, Roman Bridge spans the burn as a 19th-century road bridge in Perth and Kinross. The name suggests an older Roman origin, yet the surviving structure belongs to a later age when roads needed strengthening. Perhaps travellers long ago crossed that same water in the dark, trusting only the stones beneath their feet.
