Teach Tireachain, an early Christian church site with a graveyard and well, still lies hidden beneath County Armagh soil. The name means house of the flock, suggesting people gathered there to worship, bury their dead and draw water before record-keepers arrived. A church needs a congregation, a graveyard needs the living to remember, and a well needs hands at its rope. Those absent hands may have pulled water, touched wet stone and carried clay home for decades.
