Duart Castle stands on Mull as a ruined 14th Century castle, its stones reduced to a hollow shadow where human life once moved. The exact chamber is lost, but the shape suggests a place where people watched the water, kept heat, and faced the dark. What is missing is not an excuse to leave empty; it is an invitation to imagine the hands that built and abandoned it.

Duart Castle on Mull was built by the MacDougall clan in the 13th century and later held by the Macleans from the 15th century. It is important as a historic stronghold associated with the powerful Maclean lords of the Isles and for its strategic location overlooking the Sound of Mull.
