Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Mulberry: Rigg Bay, Wigtown Bay, Solway Firth as Pontoon (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Mulberry was a temporary harbor structure, part of the Allied "Mulberry" harbor project, deployed during World War II. It was lost in 1944 after being abandoned in Rigg Bay, Wigtown Bay, as the war effort no longer required it; no lives were lost, and its significance lies in its role in supporting the D-Day landings.
