Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Muirdrum, Battie's Den Deposition Area as Long Cist (early Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Early Medieval long cist; a simple burial structure indicating local funerary practices of the period. Its survival contributes to understanding of early Christian or pre-Christian burial traditions in the region.
