Between 1808‒56 Mrs. Elizabeth Grace ran a boarding school for ten young ladies here. Henry Mills Grace, father of W. G. Grace, was born here in 1808. The property was enlarged by 1809. Mrs. Elizabeth Grace operated a prominent boarding school for young ladies from 1808 to 1856; the site is also notable as the birthplace of Henry Mills Grace, father of the famous cricketer W.G. Grace.
