Mount Verdant

End-of-terrace three-bay two-storey house, built 1895, with two-bay two-storey side (west) elevation. Extended, 1906, comprising single-bay two-storey linking bay leading to single-bay two-storey projecting bay to north-east. One of a group of three. Hipped slate roof (continuing into shared pitched section to side (west) elevation; roof to linking bay not visible behind parapet; pitched to projecting bay) with clay ridge tiles, yellow brick Running bond chimney stacks (rendered chimney stacks to projecting bay), rendered coping, and cast-iron rainwater goods on eaves having corbels. Ivy-clad unpainted rendered walls with parapet to linking bay having cut-stone coping. Square-headed window openings in bipartite arrangement (single arrangement to side (west) elevation) with cut-stone or rendered sills, rendered surrounds, and one-over-one timber sash windows having two-over-two timber sash windows to side (west) elevation. Segmental-headed door opening with rendered pilaster surround, timber panelled door, sidelights on panelled risers, and overlight. Set in own grounds perpendicular to road with landscaped grounds to site having random rubble stone boundary wall, and side (west) elevation fronting on to road having sections of iron railings to front on rendered plinth.

A pleasantly-composed middle-size house built as one of a group of three related houses (with 12004002, 15/KK-4766-04-02, 15) forming an attractive assemblage contributing positively to the visual appeal of Green's Hill. Distinctive bipartite window openings, a Classically-detailed doorcase, and so on all enliven the architectural design value of the composition while the retention of substantial quantities of the original fabric contributes significantly to the positive impression made by the house on the character of the streetscape.
