What is recorded here

In reclaimed pasture immediately W of a stream that marks the townland boundary with Kilbreedy. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a circular-shaped earrthwork. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised roughly circular-shaped area (diam. c. 15m) defined by a scarp with traces of an external fosse. Outline of overgrown monument is visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. See attached Google Earth orthoimages. A Neolithic passage tomb; significant as an early example of megalithic funerary architecture in the region.
