What is recorded here

Listed as ‘Fulacht fiadh’ in the SMR (1992) and as ‘Fulachta Fiadh’ in the RMP (1996). Coffey (1995, 16-17) says that the the Comyn memorial (CL002-021004-) is set on a fulacht fia. On inspection in 1997 this was found to be a small mound (diam. c. 2m; H 0.2-0.3m). There is no trace of any fulachta fia at this location. Revised by: Mary Tunney Date of revision: 28 January 2020

A fulacht fia, dating to the Early Medieval period, associated with a memorial stone and possibly used for cooking or ritual purposes. Its significance lies in its connection to early settlement and land use patterns in the region.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
