Mound in Rathmore South — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Half a metre of earth, ten long and four and a half wide, lies flat in pasture a stone’s throw from Rathmore Castle. Tradition calls it a burial ground, though no ditch or marker remains to prove it. The mound has vanished from newer satellite images, perhaps swallowed by grass or erased by measurement, leaving only memory and a faint shadow in older maps.

In pasture, 12m S of a field boundary and 45m W of a townland boundary with Rathmore North. Rathmore Castle (LI031-019----) lies 100m to NE. Depicted on the Cassini 6-inch map as a roughly oval-shaped mound (20m N-S; 18m E-W). Referred to by O’Kelly (1944, 49) as an ‘elongated tumulus’ and described as: ‘A small elongated mound not quite 3’ (0.91m) high. Its long axis runs N-S and is 33’ (10m) long, while the width is 15’ (4.6m). There is no fosse. Local tradition holds that it is a burial ground’. Monument is visible as an oblong-shaped mound (10m N-S; 4.5m E-W) on OSi aerial orthoimage taken 2005-2012 and on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013, however is not visible on Google Earth orthoimage taken 14/02/2020.
