Mound in Liagán

Mound

What is recorded here

In Liagán, County Galway, a small circular mound rises one metre twenty through pasture grass, its earth compacted into a round top wide enough for eight paces. A standing stone lay seventy-five metres north, perhaps marking a boundary or a memory now lost. The mound still holds its shape beside ordinary fields, waiting for someone to notice what it preserved.
In pastureland. This small circular round-topped mound (diam. c. 8m; H 1.2m) appears to be composed entirely of earth. A standing stone (GA068-037----) lay c. 75m to the N. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 23 February 2017
