Why this matters

A Neolithic long barrow, c. 4000–2500 BCE; its central channel may indicate a ritual or funerary function, typical of early communal burial practices in Ireland.

What is recorded here

On the E side of a small valley in unreclaimed pasture. An oval mound (16m N-S; 8m E-W; H 0.3-0.4m) with a channel (Wth 1.5m; D 0.1m) running down the centre of the long axis. Visible on an aerial photograph (GSIAP, S 446). Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 23 January 2013
