Mound in Cluain An Ghaill

Situated on a local prominence on a fairly level landscape. This is a circular grass-covered mound (diam. of base 11m E-W; 10m N-S; H 2.2m) with some bushes. There is a small, grass-covered quarry to the SE, and the late medieval house (ME017-019001-) is c. 130m to the E. A circular earthen mound, likely dating to the Bronze Age; its function may have been funerary or ceremonial. The presence of a quarry suggests local sourcing of materials, typical of such mounds in the period.
