Three small burial mounds in Ballyhomulta vanished before modern cameras, leaving behind a pasture where dead people once stood out like knots in wood. Tom Coffey marked them on a map in 1951, but by 1997 the ground had smoothed itself into ordinary grass. The mounds may have been ploughed, eroded or simply forgotten, yet the field still holds the shape of what it lost.

On undulating ground in pasture, within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). Listed as ‘Burial mound(s)’ in the RMP (1996). Three ‘small burial mounds’ were indicated on a 6-inch map by Tom Coffey (SMR file) at IG 12049, 19512. On inspection in 1997 no remains were visible at that location.
