What is recorded here

Three small burial mounds once broke the pasture at Ballyhomulta, but grass and forgetting have erased them. Tom Coffey marked them on a map in 1951, yet a visitor in 1997 found only smooth ground where death should have piled earth. The field system still bends around that hidden place, keeping a shape no one can now point to.

On undulating ground in pasture, within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). Listed as ‘Burial mound(s)’ in the RMP (1996). Three ‘small burial mounds’ were indicated on a 6-inch map by Tom Coffey (SMR file) at IG 12049, 19512. On inspection in 1997 no remains were visible at that location.
