Cooley Fort rises in Ballytrustan, County Down, its age still uncertain but its shape unmistakable. A mound of that name suggests people built or reused it during the fort period, perhaps watching the coast or marking a boundary. The earth may have swallowed rooms, gates and fires, leaving only a ridge for others to read.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MOUND: COOLEY FORT. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
