Donegore moat or motte stands in County Antrim as a medieval scheduled site, its earthworks still marking the centre of a place people shaped long before modern maps. The name itself hedges between a flooded defensible pit and a raised stronghold, which is exactly the kind of ambiguity old land keeps. Whatever it was, it was built to be seen, entered, defended or remembered.
