Bailey Hill in Mold is a Norman motte and bailey castle from the late eleventh or early twelfth century, preserved as a scheduled monument in Flintshire. Its earthwork still rises where timber defences once stood, testifying to Anglo-Norman military control of North Wales. The mound may have supported guards, administrators or frightened locals, but its shape still records the urgency of that conquest.
