Morlais Castle Quarries (West) cuts into the Merthyr Tydfil landscape as a Post Medieval quarry, marking the area where stone was taken for local building and industry. The west-facing slope may have echoed with hammers and cart wheels, carrying heavy loads through narrow paths while men measured depth and strength in the rock. That repeated labour shaped the land and fed the growing town, leaving a scar that still records the demand for material in a busy region.
