Moridunum was the sea fort capital of the Demetae, birthplace of Carmarthen, where Roman roads ended at the western edge of Southern Wales. The name Myrddin may have flowed from this place rather than the other way around, tying Merlin to red earth and tidal breath. Its oversized amphitheatre still stands east of the town, witnessing crowds that history has forgotten but the stones remember.
