Montfode Castle was a 16th-century tower house belonging to the Montfode family, perched above the Montfode Braes near Ardrossan. Its stone tower and wall still stand, but most of the building was stripped in the early 19th century to build a dam and threshing mill at Montfode Farm. What remains is a round tower with gun-slits, a fragment of wall, and a doorway with a moulded surround, enough to suggest a larger oblong or Z-plan house. The castle became a farmyard machine, its grandeur redirected into water, grain and daily work.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Montfode Castle as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
