This marble commemorative plaque records: The ships timbers along the east in the bay are all that remain of the schooner Monreith of Wigtown wrecked in the Kirkcudbright Bay on the 12th November 1900.
The schooner Monreith of Wigtown was wrecked off Kirkcudbright Bay in 1900; its timbers are a local reminder of early 20th-century maritime disasters.
